As humanity expanded to the stars, more and more outposts of commerce began to form. Soon entire seperate economies began to take shape light years away from Earth. Iris calculated that if something was not done to unify the new systems with the old chaos would ensue. In the year 2198 the Intergalactic Stock Exchange (IGSE) was formed to help solve the problem.
Originally the IGSE functioned more like a board with representatives sitting in for each system. Each "Member" sent an A.I unit to process all the millions if not billions of transactions occuring between the markets. now people could claim partial ownership to companies light years away.
However the system was flawed. though the markets could unite and work together it did not mean that there were not people who wanted to take advantage of the system.
In the year 3200, the turn of the century, the IGSE experienced a massive crash. insider trading and poor management of investments were the key factor.
shortly after Eris made he legendary rampage through the intergalactic networks. trillions of dollars evaporated in less then a year.
after the Containment and Reform, the Galatic Government mandated that if the IGSE were to continue operating, it would do so under one A.I unit with no past affiliations. Matsumoto Corp. was commisioned to create such an A.I.
after years of R&D the final product was Athena. Named after the Greek Goddess of wisdom, Athena is charged with managing ALL of intergalactic markets. her processes allow for minimal actions at best. she has the minimal requirements for a social A.I unit, but accessing and running the files takes up too much memory. Her hair, which in real life would be arond 25-30 ft long, functions as extended RAM allowing for more computations.
Athena is located deep within the independent A.I server. Yggdrasil. Her space of operation is referred to as Athens.
Today the IGSE continues to provide services for Billions of people across the galaxy.

this idea was floating in my head since we studied the stock market in economics. its about time i got it out. lol
cant say im all that thrilled with the composition though. shes supposed to be standing in the back with her really long pony tail curling around close to the viewer.
kinda came out like that i guess. tell me whatch think.
