Big Five Part 3 by CrazyAsian1 Big Five Part 3 by CrazyAsian1
Big Five Part 3: African Elephant

With heavy armor, incredible strength, and great size the Elephant is employed in the field as a walking fortress for the patrols. Each unit is accompanied by 3 - 4 rangers. Depending on the situation the unit can be deployed as a solitary Bull Elephant or a Matriach which accompanies the herds. Matriachs are unmanned and lack the features to support human companions due to the close proximity to the herds.

Typical roles of a Bull model featured here include supply/troop transport, mobile communications, heavy recon, night patrol platform, heavy lifting/obstacle clearing, and heavy support roles in combat.
---------

Stay tuned for Part 4. Either the Lion or the Leopard.

Thanks for dropping by.
Rob

I love all of the Big Five series, and your amazing mechanized animal drawings, but this is by far my favorite of all of them...

MusicColonel Walter was shocked

when he learned from the Nile

Copper African elephants turning hostile

So he built these wonderful automaton bloaks

And a very big steam powered giraffe what smokes Music

Very cool, I'm liking all of your Big Five creations. Very well-made.
I was struck by concern with this one, though, as you say they can take a matriarchal role in a herd. I have a hard time believing the herd will accept the presence of an elephant look-alike.

Another awesome and practical addition would be a metal detector at the end of the trunk for mine-sweeping.

this is true...i  was thinking of making a warthog or a honey badger as a dedicated minesweeper, but adding this function on is a good suggestion...Thanks! :D

A mecha elephant, freaking awesome, this would actually be pretty useful for transport and moving heavy objects, considering how elephants have actually been trained to do those tasks. :) Really neat concepts, I'll be keeping an eye on these!

Very nice. But the picture rings a bell. Isn't it based on some old book illustration? Because I could swear I already saw the same composition with an elephant and a guy walking beside it. Of course not a mecha elephant. Just an ordinary one. :-)

lol I'd imagine you could find a boat load of pics of a person walking next to an elephant through google image search. This is a pretty safe composition too so that makes sense. Thanks anyways though!

Oh! Sorry! I didn't meant to offend you! I wasn't suggesting that you copied it or something. No, it was just a sort of "deja vu" feeling that I must have seen the same composition ages ago. But it was probably an echo of some old Zdenek Burian illustration of some Verne novel, similar to this one: www.humanart.cz/soubor/2362/14…

Really, that wouldn't be such an impractical vehicle at all considering how useful an actual elephant can be on the field.  I like it!
