Heimdall Special Issue Armor by CrazyAsian1 Heimdall Special Issue Armor by CrazyAsian1
This is the Heimdall armor suit. Its the third piece of the Aesir armor lineup along with the Fenris [link] and the Tyr [link]
it fulfills the role of scout/sniper with emphasis on stealth and concealment.

This is accomplished in many different ways. The suit is made of a light, durable, polymer type of armor which allows for ease of movement and greater agility. The material can also receive data about the surrounding environment to alter its appearance creating an effective camouflage system. Other features include sound dampening, vision augmentation, and variable sound amplification receptors.

The Vanir M408 is the standard issue sniper rifle for Aesir snipers. Its a relatively simple magazine fed .408 caliber rifle. Other weapons can include Gungnir class heavy ordinance. Weapons under this class can fire rounds ranging from 50 caliber to 25mm. These are usually reserved for heavily armored opposition or removing high profile targets from great distances.

The chin of the person wearing the helmet. Not the beak-like protrusion of the helmet itself.

very well done, I particularly like the armor details, while I literally have no clue where you are getting this stuff; I can see both research and devotion, and in the end the piece is gorgeous. Did you go to a school for this kinda thing?:ninjabattle:

50 cl equals 12.7 mm. In reverse, 25mm rounds off to about 98 caliber, a little larger actually. So how they get a 25 mm round into a STANDARD ISSUE SNIPER rifle? how do you fire that monster without screwing your shoulder?

The helmet design is really interesting, and the armor is pretty cool in general.

Good design, but I am a little curious regarding the name for this suit. Why Heimdall? Although I like the suit design perhaps Loki is more suited? Since Snipers are stealthy and cunning.

Just my 2 cents, but great job overall.

heimdall was the essentially the sentinel of the gods in Norse mythology. he had superior sight and hearing. i wanted to utilize these aspects in creation of this suit. since this is a sniper character i wanted to play up the superior vision and hearing. stealth/recon is what i had in mind. they are the scouts that can spot objectives from afar and engage enemies from an enclosed position.
when i think of loki i think of a more assassin like character. someone who sneaks in the shadows and causes chaos with a knife or some sort of close range weapon. they deal massive damage on a personal level and endanger themselves at the same time because of their position. someone like Etsio from assassins creed. he doesnt engage his targets from afar. he eliminates his targets in their own space placing his life in danger but delivers the most effect because of his actions.

i hope that clears up any confusion. thanks for your question :)

Thanks for your reply and clearing it up :).

I really like how you capitalised on that aspect on Heimdall, keep it up. Hope to see more from you.

Liking the helmet, it's weird indeed i you consider the lower part like some sort of a beak/chin, but if you consider it as a chin then it'll looks pretty badass, no kiding, one of my design made with similar concept ([link])

well, I'd say to get rid of that head crest, and make the eye visor bigger. Since all ur designs have that kind of pointed nose deal, I suppose we have keep that, but maybe flatten it a bit.

be mindful of the hip sockets. be pretty painful for the guy underneath to have the armor plates jabbing in like that.

ehhhhh wouldnt make sense for the design... why would a sniper have a big cumbersome plate strapped to his/her arm? the rifle was a bit much too... :P

Sometimes you wanna make up a reason to give him something ridiculous. Hes getting a little on the generic side of things. The iconic helm is awesome, but all your guys have that. As it stands, hes just a generic video game soldier with a pretty face. Your bigger armored guy is probably the most iconic of your bunch. You older designs, though heavily japanese influenced of course, had a pretty unique look. Just because youre starting to paint like the pros, doesnt mean your designs should look just like theirs ya know. Considering these are entirely from your mind, you have the freedom to make up whatever reason to give them more unique silhouettes. Ah but thats just my opinion.

id rather stick to functionality and work within the more realistic elements. yeah its all good fun, but i want to make something that could have some sense of believability. we'll see what future designs will yield, but i do appreciate the feedback.

If youre going for more realistic and functional, watch out on the thunder-thighs. Ive noticed this in several of your works, its really hard to move at all, let alone quickly, with bulky thigh armor. Watch out on the arms too, they would be near skeletal thin without the armor on top. It looking like you dont really focus on the human body under the armor. Its always a shame when people draw giant body armor with no concept of how the person fits into it, im looking at you warhammer.
