hey peeps. starting fooling around with Painter... and i love it.
so ive wanted to do something with African tribal masks for a long time now. i find the idea of mask's fascinating. they represent the spirits of the world around us and are shrouded with mystery. when one puts on a mask they are no longer themselves. they become something greater than what they were.
aesthetically i love the variety of shapes and designs. i find it a great source of inspiration for designs. i also love the grandeur. Some masks are huggggeeeeeeee. the unwieldiness of it all is quite entertaining, but also very impressive and daunting at times. to see a figure coming towards you with an enormous mask of an ancient deity... that sounds like quite a sight.
hope you guys enjoy.

But I'm seriously loving this piece. The character has a slight Harlequin flair to it.
